Track & Field Collects Seven Top Finishes at Philadelphia College Classic

PHILADELPHIA – Opening the outdoor season at historic Franklin Field, Temple women's track and field earned seven first-place finishes and four new personal records at the Philadelphia College Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Continuing her success from the indoor season, Bionca St. Fleur swept the field in the 200-meter run with a time of 25.34 in the event. Jimmia McCluskey came in just behind her with a time of 25.45 to place second.
McCluskey opened the outdoor season with two gold medals of her own. In the 100-meter dash, McCluskey ran a time of 12.39 to place first overall. She later played a crucial role in the Owls' 4x100-meter relay that placed first with a time of 47.75. That relay also included Kenya Gaston, Courtney Mitchell and St. Fleur in the final leg.
The 4x400-meter relay also placed first on Saturday afternoon. Brigit Andersson, Crystal Jones, Simone Chapman, and Alexis O'Shea ran a time of 4:16.73 to earn the top spot.
Imani Shell, Simone Brownlee and Jones all collected first place marks in their respective events. Shell posted a long jump mark of 5.51 meters to pick up a gold medal to kick off her final season before graduating.
Brownlee was the only Owl to run the 100-meter hurdles and logged a time of 14.88 seconds to rank first overall. Brownlee also ran the 400-meter hurdles where she posted a new personal-best time of 1:10.25. In that same event, Jones posted a 1:05.29 to round out the first-place winners for the day.
In the 800-meter race, Gabriela Rodriguez posted the top mark for the Owls with a 2:24.88 to place sixth overall, the highest placement for the Owls in middle-distance races.
Semaje Harper, Katie Pinson and Megan Schneider all earned personal-best marks to open up the outdoor season. In the 200-meter race, Harper ran a 28.22 to place first in her heat. Pinson and Schneider both ran the 3000-meter race with Schneider running a personal-best time of 10:49.45. Pinson came extremely close to matching the school's record in the event with her time of 10:01.83. Currently, the record for the event stands at 10:01.14.
The Owls will travel to Raleigh, N.C. next weekend to take part in the Raleigh Relays starting on Friday, March 25.
