Field Hockey Tops BIG EAST in Number of NFHCA Academic Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Temple field hockey has been honored as a 2015 ZAG Field Hockey / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team, and 16 Temple student-athletes have been named to the National Academic Squad. The Owls' 16 recipients are the most of any team in the BIG EAST Conference from the 2015 season.
As a team, Temple earned its honor for having a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Individually, the Owls' 16 student-athletes named to the academic squad earned GPA's of 3.3 or above for the fall semester. Seven of the Owls' seniors earned the distinction of having been named to the National Academic Squad in all four years of their careers.
"We say it a lot...it's easy to be just a student or just an athlete, but we want those who are able to do both at a high level representing our Temple program," said head coach Marybeth Freeman. "I'm incredibly proud to have these women represent us. It is a testament to their time management and dedication to achieving success as a student-athlete."Â
