Women's Tennis Blanks La Salle to Finish Regular Season

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's tennis team ended the regular season on a seven-match winning streak by defeating City Six rival La Salle on Saturday afternoon, 7-0. The Owls moved to 12-4 overall on the season with the victory.
The Owl swept the doubles point, after Anais Nussaume and Yana Khon picked up a 6-0 win over Cecile Johnson and Asha Anderson at the third position and Alina Abdurakhimova and Minami Okajima took down Ashton Wentzel and Kathryn Thomas, 6-0 at the second flight.
In singles, Okajima grabbed a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kathryn Thomas at the fifth flight, while Dina Karina picked up a shutout straight-set victory over Anderson at the number four spot. Mariana Bedon clinched the win for Temple with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the sixth flight over Johnson. Nussaume, Abdurakhimova and Khon also picked up wins at the third, first and second flights, respectively, to close out the shutout for the Owls.
Temple will next travel to Memphis, Tenn. to take part in the American Athletic Conference Tournament starting April 20. Seeding for the tournament will be released next week.
