PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team saw the varsity eight and novice four boats earn sweeps, as the Owls competed against Duquesne and Bucknell on the Schuylkill River on Saturday.
"Both Bucknell and Duquesne are strong, deep programs and I was really please with how the team stepped up into the challenge of racing them," noted head coach Rebecca Smith Grzybowski. "During the week we focus on executing at each practice and building toward the weekend races. This weekend we took full advantage of the race opportunities that we had and I am really proud of the resilience and maturity that we saw across the board."
In the morning session, Temple's varsity eight and novice four boats highlighted the session with wins against Bucknell. Temple's top crew notched a 7:03.47 to 7:04.48 victory over the Bison, while the novice four topped a pair of Bucknell boats, recording a 7:56.55 to pass the Bison's efforts of 8:03.42 and 8:46.10.
