4x100 Meter Relay Qualifies for ECAC Championship Run on Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA –Despite the chilling rain on day one of the 122nd running of the Penn Relays, Temple's 4x100-meter relay team was able to earn a spot in the ECAC Championship race with a heat time of 47.18.
Prior to the relay heats, Crystal Jones kicked off the day in the 400-meter hurdles where she posted a time of 1:07.46. Directly following that event, Jones posted a jump of 1.67 meters to place eighth overall.
Jimmia McCluskey, Kenya Gaston, Courtney Mitchell, and Bionca St. Fleur made up the 4x100-meter relay that tied the season's best time in the event. The ECAC Championship race is set to run Friday at 1:07 p.m.
Both McCluskey and St. Fleur also competed in the long jump, posting top jumps of 5.54 and 5.43 meters, respectively. McCluskey ended 16th overall with St. Fleur landing in 23rd out of a 45-athlete pool.
The distance medley relay, Katie Pinson, Imani Shell, Maya Halprin-Adams, and Katie Leisher, brought in a new seasons-best time for the program with a time of 12:10.94.
The Owls will return to Franklin Field tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. starting with Sydnee Jacques and Simone Chapman competing in the triple jump.
