PHILADELPHIA - Continuing her work as part of the staff with the USA Field Hockey U19 Team, Temple field hockey assistant coach Katie Gerzabek is heading to Germany with the squad from May 11-17.
While in Germany, specifically Bad Kreuznach, the U19 team will play three matches against Germany's Junior Team. All of these matches will be played at the Bad Kreuznach Hockey Club.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to go on this Germany tour with the USA U19 National Team," said Gerzabek. "To further my knowledge of the game and to gain more experience at the international level, while working with a fantastic group of young women, is fun and exciting. I'm looking forward to bringing some fresh, new and progressive ideas back to the TUFH family."
The US U17 team is also heading to a separate region of Germany during the same dates. Both teams will compete against international teams to get elite level exposure and to build on techniques and concepts they have been working on during training camp weekends. Both of the junior teams have had four training camps since December in preparation for the tour. Those training camps were held at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster County, Pa., the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., the University of Maryland in College Park, Md., and Penn State University in State College, Pa.
