Men's Crew Earns Bids to IRA National Championships

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's crew varsity eight boat has received a bid to the prestigious International Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships. This marks the first appearance for the Owls' varsity eight boat at the event since 2003.Â
Temple's top boat is in the midst of an already fantastic season, which will serve as the last season as head coach for Gavin White. The Owls' earned a bronze medal at the famed Dad Vail Regatta, the first medal in the varsity eight category at the event since 2008. Temple also captured a gold medal at the 2016 San Diego Crew Classic this season, while earning silver medals at both the Murphy Cup and Bergen Cup Regattas.Â
The IRA National Championships will be held June 3-5 on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. The event will be co-hosted by the Princeton National Rowing Association.Â
As part of the varsity eight bid, Temple will also send additional crews to compete at the event, including the varsity four, lightweight four, and freshman eight.
