Women’s Soccer Adds International Experience to 2016 Class
5.3.16 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA - After a very successful spring season, in which the Temple women's soccer team won the Philadelphia City Six tournament and was also honored by the athletic department for having the highest team GPA, head coach Seamus O'Connor is delighted to announce the addition of Frances Davis from Bath, England to the class of 2016.
"Davis is a huge addition for our team. Her experiences playing with England and at Bristol Academy will make us a better team immediately. She is a very technical player who wants the ball and has the ability to connect passes all over the field," said O'Connor. "I also love how well she plays defensively, how intelligent she is with her positioning to fill important passing lanes to deny goal scoring opportunities, but also how physical she is when she needs to make a tackle. I have also been impressed with her history of leadership on all the teams she played for including her country. This will help our team as we look to replace the leadership lost with the graduation of nine seniors."
At the youth level, Davis played for the Bristol Academy Centre of Excellence where she was coached by current England Ladies Head Coach Mark Sampson. She was selected as team captain for the U15 and U17 teams and was the Bristol Academy Player of the Year during her time with the U15 team.
At the age of 16, Davis was signed for the Bristol Academy Reserve team and went on to make her debut for the Bristol Academy First team at the age of 17. Her success with Bristol Academy was recognized with her selection for the England U17 team. During her time with the England U17 team she was also chosen to captain the team.
