Men's Crew Races at IRA National Championships this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's crew team will close out a fantastic 2015-16 campaign with a trip to the IRA National Championships this weekend. The USRowing sponsored event is being held on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J..
Temple's varsity eight boat earned a team bid for the Owls, finishing with a bronze medal at the historic Dad Vail Regatta in May. The IRA bid for the varsity eight is the first time the program will race in that event since 2008. The Owls will also field boats in the freshman eight, varsity four, and lightweight four races.Â
Temple's varsity eight boat is comprised of coxswain Dante Romeo, and rowers Tom Robbins, Charles Anderson, Brian Reifsnyder, Evan Hammond, Austin Dunn, David Buckley, Collin McKinney, and Robert Byrne.Â
In the varsity four, the Owls will race coxswain Kylie High and rowers Ryan Dartnell, Andrew Grochowski, Bryan Berry, and Tyler Baldo.Â
The lightweight four is made up of coxswain Kati Jordan Funck, and rowers Vittorio DiPentino, Dylan McCreavy, Nicholas Olimpo, and Troy Madden.
In the freshman eight, the Owls boat features coxswain Caseyann Sweeney, and rowers Stephen Gennaro, Joseph Leyland, Nolan Gauthier, Jeremy Caraballo, Ryan Kipp, Chris Kovach, Patrick Martin, and Tyler Judge.
Temple races begin on Friday, as the varsity eight, varsity four, and lightweight four will compete in heat races. The Owls' freshman eight will compete in finals on Sunday, while the other Temple boats will need to qualify to the semifinals and finals.Â
