Temple Alumni Team to Play La Salle in TBT Opener July 16

PHILADELPHIA - Temple Men's Basketball fans looking to watch some recent Owl greats will have their chance on Saturday, July 16.  That night the Owls Alumni team, the North Broad Street Bullies, will play La Salle's entry, 20th and Olney, in The Basketball Tournament at 9:15 p.m. at Philadelphia University.

The North Broad Street Bullies feature seven former Owls on its roster. Former all-conference honorees Juan Fernandez ('12), Ramone Moore ('12), Scootie Randall ('13) and Khalif Wyatt ('13) are joined by standouts T.J. DiLeo ('13), Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson ('13) and Dalton Pepper ('14).  Also comprising the 11-mam roster is John Linehan (Providence), Darrius Garret (Richmond) and Philly U alums Christian Burns and Peter Alexis. 

The team is coached by Rahlir's brother, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, currently a member of the Brooklyn Nets. Former Owl Jake Godino is an assistant coach with Temple alums and former Owl managers Brandon Forman and Marco Sifoni serving as the team's general managers.  

Notable La Salle alums on the 20th and Olney include Tyreek Duren, Ramon Galloway, Tyrone Garland, Rodney Green, Steven Smith, Jerrell Wright and Steve Zack.

The winner of the contest will meet the winner of Boeheim's Army (Syracuse Alumni) and Basketball City on Sunday, July 17.

Tickets are expected to go quickly for this event and can be purchased here.

The Basketball Tournament is an open application, 5-on-5, single-elimination, winner-take-all, basketball tournament. The grand prize is $2,000,000 for the winning team.

The four regional winners who survive the Super 16 will then proceed to New York City to play at Fordham's historic Rose Hill Gym for the semifinals (live on ESPN) on July 30  and the $2,000,000 winner take all Championship Game on August 2.
