Temple head coach Geoff Collins announced three additional coaches to his football staff; Tony Lucas, Cory Robinson and Andrew Thacker. All of these coaches will be entering their first year at Temple. With these hires, Temple now has all nine full-time assistant coaching positions filled.

Lucas was appointed as the Owls' running back coach. He spent the previous four seasons at Delaware (2013-16), where he turned the Blue Hens into a top-five rushing attack in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Lucas also has coaching experience at Georgetown (2011-12), Bowling Green (2010), and Trinity College (2008-09).

Robinson has been named the defensive backs coach. He came from Toledo where he was the defensive backs coach in 2016 while the squad finished 9-3 and runners up for the conference title in the MAC.  Robinson also has experience at Maryland (2015-16), Saint Frances Academy High School (2014), and at Calvert Hall High School (2009-13), both in Baltimore M.D.

Thacker was added as the Owls' linebacker coach.  Prior to Temple, he was at Kennesaw State, where he served as linebackers coach during the 2016 season, propelling the team to an 8-3 record. The Cartersville, Ga., native also has coaching experience at UCF (2008-09, 2015), Oklahoma State (2010-12), and in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons (2014).

Collins had retained Ed Foley (tight ends), Frisman Jackson (wide receivers) and Chris Wiesehan (offensive line) from the previous staff. He recently hired Dave Patenaude (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks), Taver Johnson (defensive coordinator/safeties), and Jim Panagos (defensive line).
