Daisy Todd Named ECAC Rookie of the Week

1.24.17 | Women's Gymnastics

DANBURY, Conn. – In the second installment of the ECAC women's gymnastics weekly awards, Temple freshman Daisy Todd has been selected as the Rookie of the Week. This is the first award selection for the Owls in the 2017 season.

Todd, a San Jose, Calif. native, has debuted in her collegiate career with three solid all-around appearances. In her first outing, Todd notched a 38.725 that included a team-leading 9.775 on bars at Penn State. Her first collegiate appearance wrote her right into the record books, tying for 10th all-time among all individual all-around performers.

In last weekend's home opener, Todd set a new season-high all-around mark of 38.8 and that ranks as the seventh highest all-time all-around mark in program history. The freshman also notched her first individual event title, placing first on bars with her second 9.775 of the season.

She rounded out her first appearance in McGonigle Hall with a 9.675 on vault that placed second, a 9.75 on beam that also placed second, and a 9.6 on floor.

Three meets into the season, Todd ranks 10th in the North East region as an all-around gymnast and second in the conference with an average of 38.6.
