Volleyball Hosts ECU Friday, Cincinnati on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team continues American Athletic Conference play with a pair of home matches this weekend. The Owls will take on ECU on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and will host Cincinnati on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
THE OWLS
> Temple is 7-5 overall with a 3-1 record in conference play.
> The Owls swept their first American road trip of the season, winning 3-1 at Tulane on Friday night and then 3-2 at Houston on Sunday.
> Temple needed all five sets to win its third straight match, rallying to top Houston, 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 18-25, 26-28, 15-13).
> Trailing 12-9 in the fifth set, Temple rallied for six of the final seven points, including the final five, to complete the victory.
> Temple combined to hit .275 in the first two sets, holding Houston to a .140 attack and going up 2-0.
> The Cougars turned the tables by hitting .306 in the third set to grab a 25-18 win.
> Kyra Coundourides tallied a double-double of 49 assists and 12 digs.
> Izzy Rapacz finished with 12 kills, 17 digs, and five blocks for another double-double.
> Dara Peric wrapped up the double-doubles with 10 kills and 14 digs.

> Janine Simmons (1.86 kills/set) and Iva Deak (1.76 kills/set) shore up the middle for the Owls.
> Simmons (1.21 blocks/set) is second in the conference in blocks, while Deak (1.17 blocks/set) is third.
> Coundourides averages 9.02 assists per set, while Vandegrift adds 5.15 per set.
> Junior Mia Heirakuji tops the Owls' defense with 3.80 digs per set.Â
> Senior Dara Peric contributes all around with 1.72 kills per set and 2.76 per frame.

ASSIST #2500 FOR COUNDOURIDES
> Kyra Coundourides notched her 2,500th career assist on Sunday.
> She was also named to the American Weekly Honor Roll this week, averaging a double-double.
