Volleyball Sweeps UConn on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team made their last home match count, recording a 3-0 sweep over visiting UConn on Wednesday afternoon. The senior day win improved the Owls to 18-9 overall, 14-5 in conference play, while the Huskies fall to 11-20 overall, 4-15 in The American.
KEYS TO THE MATCH
> The Owls hit a season-best .471, holding UConn to a .112 attack.
> Temple's five primary hitters all hit over .400.
> The Owls out-blocked (8-4) and out-dug 46-28 the Huskies.
> Temple led from start to finish in all three sets, never trailing in the match.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
> Freshman Katerina Papazoglou tallied 13 kills hitting .455.
> Redshirt Freshman Dana Westfield hit .524, racking up 12 kills with four digs.
> Senior Izzy Rapacz had 11 kills and eight digs, hitting .625 with four blocks.
> Junior Iva Deak hit .667 with seven kills.
> Senior Janine Simmons had three kills without an error, recording a team-best seven blocks.
> Senior Kyra Coundourides dished out 41 assists.
> Junior Mia Heirakuji led the Owls with 15 digs.
> Senior Dara Peric added six digs.

> Temple hit .565, holding the Huskies to a .000 attack.
> The Owls opened with a 7-2 lead, including a 3-0 start.
> UConn rallied to cut the Temple advantage to 10-7.
