Men's Basketball Faces Jefferson Rams in Charity Exhibition on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA - Fans will have their first look at the 2017-18 Temple men's basketball team on Thursday, Nov. 9 as the Owls play an exhibition game against Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) at 7:30 p.m. in the Liacouras Center. Temple will play its first six regular season games away from home before returning on Dec. 6 to face Wisconsin.
Game Promotions
> All ticket sales from Thursday's exhibition game will be donated to One America Appeal to benefit those impacted by the recent hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. Tickets are available online HERE or by calling the Temple Ticket Office at (215)204-TIXX.
Scouting the Owls
> Temple will start the regular season at the Gildan Charleston Classic from Nov. 16-19, and will play a total of six games on the road before its home opener vs. Wisconsin on Dec. 6.
> Back this year for the Owls is redshirt senior guard Josh Brown who played in just five early games last year and ultimately took a redshirt season due to an Achilles tendon injury suffered in May, 2016. Brown ranked second in the American Athletic Conference with 4.9 assists per game and first with an assist/turnover ratio of 3.5 as a junior in 2015-16.
> Filling in for Brown at point guard last season was leading scorer and sophomore Shizz Alston, Jr., who averaged 13.9 ppg. Alston, who had a free-throw percentage of .868 to lead the league last year, has made 28 straight free throws dating back to Temple's league opener vs. Cincinnati on Dec. 28, 2016.
> Freshman Quinton Rose (10.1 ppg/4.1 rpg) was named to the 2016-17 American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team.Â
> Temple went 16-16 overall last year with a 7-11 mark in conference play to finish eighth. The Owls lost to ECU 80-69 in the American Athletic Conference Tournament's First Round.
>Â Overall, Temple was 15-1 last season when scoring at least 70 points, and just 1-14 when they failed to reach that plateau.

> Last year, Jefferson (then Philly U), went 21-9 overall and finished its season in the CACC Semifinals with a loss to Dominican (N.Y.). Two seasons ago, the Rams advanced to the NCAA Division II East Region First Round.
> Leading the Rams so far this year is freshman guard Alexander Gorton with 20 points per game. Sophomore guard Kylan Guerra is averaging 16.3 ppg, while senior guard Kaison Randolph has a team-leading 6.7 rebounds per game to go with 15.3 ppg.
> Jefferson head coach Herb Magee is in his 51st season with the Rams and owns an overall record of 1,055-419. Magee's record ranks first in NCAA Division II men's basketball and second across all three divisions, and he has led his teams to 29 NCAA Tournament appearances.
