Women's Basketball Back in Action on Saturday vs. Marist

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, continuing their home stand with a 2:00 p.m. match-up against Marist at McGonigle Hall. The game is part of a cross-venue double-header, as the Temple men's team will face off against Drexel at the Liacouras Center at 5:00 p.m. Fans who show men's game ticket to the women's game will receive $3 off admission, while bringing a women's ticket to the men's game will give fans $5 off admission.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple is 7-3 on the season, 5-3 at home and 2-0 on the road to start the year.
> Tanaya Atkinson leads the Owls, averaging a double-double of 23.8 points and 11.7 rebounds per game.
> Freshman Mia Davis averages 10.4 points and 9.7 boards per game.
> Freshman Emani Mayo contributes 8.2 points and 2.7 assists per outing.
> Freshman Desiree Oliver adds 8.0 points and 2.7 assists per game, but is sidelined due to injury.
> Senior Khadijah Berger averages 5.5 points and 2.8 assists per game.
> Freshman Breanna Perry adds 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
> As a team, Temple shoots 40.2% from the field and 27.7% from three.
> The Owls have out-rebounds opponents by an average of nearly 10 boards per game, but have a negative turnover margin (-1.8).

LAST TIME OUT
> Temple came up just short to #20/22 Villanova, falling 69-65 in a back-and-forth affair. Villanova (9-0), was just that. 
> Temple led early in the game, before Villanova used a 14-8 second quarter to grab a 27-25 lead.
> After three, the Owls stayed within two points, but the Wildcats used a 10-2 run to take control in the fourth.
> Temple got the lead to just three late in the game, but couldn't finish out the upset.
> Tanaya Atkinson led the way for the Owls, scoring 24 points, and grabbing a season-high 18 rebounds.
> Mia Davis was a rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 13 points in the contest.
> Deja Reynolds added eight points, while Emani Mayo had seven.

> A perennial power out of the MAAC, the Red Foxes have made the NCAA Tournament in 10 of the last 16 seasons.
> This year, Marist is 3-7 to start the season, but have won two straight.
> Four players average in double-figures in scoring for Marist, led by guard Rebekah Hand's 15.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
> Alana Gilmer adds 11.0 points per game with 5.8 rebounds per outing.
> Maura Fitzpatrick chips in with 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, and is second on the team averaging 2.4 assists.
> Hannah Hand has played just four games for the Red Foxes, but averages 10.5 points per outing.
> Allie Best rounds out the offense with 6.9 points and a team-high 3.1 assists per game.
> As a team, Marist shoots 40.3% from the field and 29.5% from long range.

LAST TIME OUT
> Marist took a 20-14 lead after the first quarter and didn't look back, topping host Boston University, 80-52, on Saturday.
> Five players reached double digit scoring numbers against the Terriers, as Marist shot 43.8% from the field and 40.7% from three.
> Maura Fitzpatrick scored 18 points with four steals, while Rebekah Hand added 14 points and seven rebounds.
> Lovi Henningsdottir (11), Allie Best (10), and Hannah Hand (10) all added double-digit scoring performances.
> Alana Gilmer rounded out the box score with seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

> Freshman Tanaya Atkinson finished with 18 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Feyonda Fitzgerald had 14 points.
> For Marist, senior Tori Jarosz led the Red Foxes with a double-double, scoring 15 points with 10 rebounds.
