Shizz Alston, Jr. Leads Men's Basketball Past Wisconsin, 59-55

PHILADELPHIA - Shizz Alston, Jr. scored 22 points and set a new program record for consecutive free throws made in leading Temple men's basketball to a 59-55 win over visiting Wisconsin (4-6) in the Owls' home opener. Alston, who hit 4-of-4 free throws in the final minute and nine seconds, has now made 52 free throws in a row for Temple (5-2) since December of 2016.

Keys to the Game
> Neither team ever led by more than six in a back-and-forth contest with eight ties and 16 total lead changes.
> The Owls held Wisconsin without a point over the final three and a half minutes, erasing a three-point deficit and closing on a 7-0 run capped by Alston's four free throws.
> Obi Enechionyia blocked two attempts by Wisconsin's leading scorer, Ethan Happ, in the final two minutes. He finished with four blocks in the contest.

Individual Highlights
> Alston added a game-high four assists to his 22 points, and hit 6-of-6 free throws overall including two on a flagrant foul by Wisconsin early in the second half. His 52 straight free throws surpasses the previous longest streak of 49 by Hall of Famer Lynn Greer in 2001.
> Enechionyia scored 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
> Josh Brown hit 5-of-8 from the field for 10 points and led all players with a season-high eight rebounds.
> Quinton Rose recorded a game-high three steals and scored some key buckets on fast breaks to finish with nine points.
> For Wisconsin, Happ led all scorers with 23 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field.

First Half
> Neither team led by more than five in a half that saw three ties and 10 lead changes.
> Temple shot 46.7 percent from the field, slightly ahead of Wisconsin's 44 percent.
> Alston led all players in the period with 12 points, while Happ scored 10 for the Badgers.
> Wisconsin led by five on three occasions in the first seven minutes, but it was a three-point game either way for the remainder of the half.
> Alston tied the game on a jumper with 2:52 left, and then hit the only other bucket the rest of the way, a three-pointer with 32 seconds left for a 31-28 Temple lead at halftime.

Second Half
> After three early ties, the Owls used an 8-0 run to take their largest lead of 47-41 just before the midway point.
> Wisconsin answered with a 12-3 run that included three straight buckets by Happ, and led 53-50 with five minutes left 
> Trailing since 5:52, Temple got a free throw from Rose that tied the game for a final time at the two-minute mark, 55-55.
> Alston's last four free throws were the only points the rest of the way.
