Women's Basketball Earns First National Ranking Since 2005-06

2.14.17 | Women's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA -- For the first time since the 2005-06 season, the Temple women's basketball team has earned a national ranking. The Owls entered the USA Today/Coaches Poll at 25.

Temple is 19-5 overall with a 9-2 mark in the American Athletic Conference. Earlier this season the Owls rattled off a 12-game win streak, putting Temple into the top 25 in NCAA RPI. Overall, three of the Owls' five losses have come to nationally ranked opponents, with both conference losses coming against teams in the national polls.

The 2005-06 Temple squad closed out the year ranked No. 19 (AP) and No. 23 (USA Today) in the final poll. Temple's highest ever national ranking came during 2004-05 season when the Owls reached No. 15 on both polls.

The Owls are back on the court on Wednesday, hosting SMU at 7:00 p.m. in a conference clash at McGonigle Hall.
