Men's Tennis Picks Up First Conference Victory Over UConn

PHILADELPHIA – In its second American Athletic Conference dual of the 2017 season, Temple men's tennis grabbed its first conference victory with a 7-0 win over the UConn Huskies. Four Owls were able to post wins in both doubles and singles play.
Florian Mayer and Thomas Sevel faced off against Huskies' pair Hank Hill and Justin Warren to pick up a 6-1 victory. Uladzimir Dorash and Francisco Bohorquez followed up with a 7-5 doubles win over UConn's Arnaud Valentin and Jacob Appleton.
The Owls were lights out in singles play led off by Artem Kapshuk's win over Husky leader Christopher Toner. Dorash, Sevel, Mayer, Bohorquez and Filip Stipcic followed in that respective order, all posting wins to secure the 7-0 final score.
Now standing 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the American Athletic Conference, Temple will look towards a non-conference matchup at George Washington University on Wednesday, February 22.
