Women's Gymnastics Heads to College Park for a Mid-Week Five-Team Meet

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's gymnastics hits the road for the first of two meets this week. The Owls will face off in a five-team meet against host #30 University of Maryland, #29 University of New Hampshire, West Chester University and conference rival William & Mary. The meet is set for a 7 p.m. start on March 1 in College Park, MD.
During a quad meet at the Pink Invitational this past weekend, the Owls were able to set a season-best bar score of 48.725.The bar squad, who is currently ranked second in the conference with a RQS score of 48.455, was led by Junior Alexa Phillip who picked up her career-high and first event title with a score of 9.875. Phillip is only the third Owl of all time to post a score of 9.875 on bars and first since 2004. 
Daisy Todd showed her consistency on the event was also able to post a solid score of a 9.825 for third consecutive week. Freshman Yasmin Eubanks notched a 9.7 mark that was followed closely by Reagan Oliveri and Breahna Wiczkowski to round out the top-scoring lineup.

Individually, Eubanks' comeback performance at the Pink Invitational led her to her first ECAC Coaches Choice weekly honor.
Todd continued her success in the all-around posting a score of 38.450. Todd ranks third in the all-around and is ranked eighth in the North East region. The freshman is also ranked second in the conference on bars and is tied for fifth regionally with a RQS score of 9.805. Sahara Gipson is currently ranked first on vault in the conference and 11th in the region with a RQS score of 9.775.

The Owls now hold a team RQS score of 193.685 and rank first in the conference. The vault team also leads the ECAC with an RQS score of 48.645, more than five tenths ahead of second-place vault team William & Mary.

#29 Maryland
The hosting Maryland Terrapins enter the weekend after seeing the Owls at the Pink Invitational quad meet with West Chester and Southern Connecticut State University. Wednesday's meet will be the last meet before they go on a bye week. The team has a season-high score of 195.625 for 2017 and a team RQS score of 195.295. They currently rank fifth in the South East region behind West Virginia, George Washington, Georgia, and Florida.

Senior Emily Brauckmuller is a Terp to look out for as she is currently placed eighth in the South East region notching a RQS score of 9.86 on floor. Also, Freshman Alecia Farina is one to keep an eye on as she is ranked 11th in the Big Ten conference with a RQS score of 9.83 on bars. Brauckmuller and Farina have helped lead a team that has avoided counting a fall in all meets through the month on February.
The Owls last met the Terrapins at the Pink Invitational in Philadelphia last Friday where Maryland posted a score of 195.225. Overall, Maryland leads the all-time series against Temple 35-9.

West Chester
The West Chester Golden Rams will head to College Park, MD after falling to both Maryland and Temple this past weekend with a third place finish at the Pink Invitational. The Golden Rams currently hold a season-high team score of 194.4 for 2017. The Golden Rams hold a team RQS score of 192.350 and rank second in the ECAC-2.

Majesta Valentine holds the highest individual ranking for the Golden Rams, sitting first in the all-around within the North East Region with a RQS score of 39.160. Valentine is coming off a winning weekend herself, gaining three individual event titles. She is currently tied for third on the floor in the North East Region.

In their last meeting in 2017, the Owls topped the Golden Rams at the Pink Invitational. Overall, the Owls lead the all-time series 40-9.

#29 New Hampshire
The Wildcats will enter Wednesday's competition after a home victory over the Air Force Academy. The Wildcats posted a 196.050 to Air Force's 193.125 improving their record to 12-3 for the season. UNH is currently ranked second in the North East region with a team RQS score of 195.465. The Wildcats have two competitors to watch in the all-around, Senior Meghan Pflieger, who ranks second in all-around regionally with an RQS score of 38.950 and Sophomore Danielle Doolin, who ranks third in the region with an RQS score of 38.945.
 
In the all-time series, the Wildcats lead 16-0. The last meeting between the two squads was earlier this season at New Hampshire where the Wildcats topped the Owls 196.450-194.350.

William & Mary
The William & Mary Tribe will round out the competition on Wednesday. Last weekend, the Tribe fell to the University of North Carolina on the road where they posted a team score of 191.250. The Tribe now ranks sixth in the ECAC conference.

Senior Olivia O'Connor has been a top performer for the Tribe in 2017.She is currently ranked fourth in the ECAC Conference with an RQS score of 38.560.

William & Mary and Temple last met for a meet at ECAC Championships in 2016 where the Tribe topped the Owls. In the all-time series, Tribe leads 31-16.
