Atkinson Named Big 5 Player of the Week; American Honor Roll

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple's Tanaya Atkinson was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, also earning a nod on the American American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
The junior guard averaged 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds as Temple went 1-1. Against #1 UConn, Atkinson keyed a strong second half for the Owls against the Huskies, tallying a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds with a career-high four assists. On Sunday at Tulane, the guard had a similar stat line, recording another double-double of 20 points and 10 boards in a battle of teams receiving votes in the national polls. For the week, Atkinson shot 53.1% from the field.
The Owls are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Tulsa at 12:00 p.m. in a "School Day" game at the Liacouras Center.
