Women's Gymnastics Falls to William & Mary, 193.10-192.45

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – In its final regular season road meet, Temple women's gymnastics posted a 192.45 to fall to the William & Mary Tribe's 193.10. Three Owls added new event titles to their season award cases as the 2017 season nears its final meets.
Beginning the meet on bars, the Owls were able to post a 48.45 led by a pair of 9.775 marks from Kerry Arone and Yasmin Eubanks. The scores tied for second place behind William & Mary's Briana Gironda who posted a 9.8. ECAC Specialist of the Week, Breahna Wiczkowski, continued her success with a 9.675 on her opening event. Daisy Todd added a 9.65 with Reagan Oliveri rounding out the counting scores with a 9.575.
Improving its total score from the dual meet at Cornell, the vault squad garnered a 48.225 event score led by Todd's 9.725. The freshman's mark also earned her the event title, the first on vault for Todd. Briana Odom was shortly behind with a solid 9.7 that took second behind Todd. Sahara Gipson added a 9.675 and was followed by scores of 9.575 from Jaylene Everett, 9.55 from Eubanks and 9.475 from Aya Mahgoub.
The floor team posted an event total of 48.10 led by Oliveri's second-place 9.725. Todd and Gipson added scores of 9.625 to rank second for the Owls. Odom posted a 9.575 with Alexa Phillip adding a 9.55 to round out the lineup.
The Owls closed out the meet on beam where they were forced to count two falls on their way to a 47.675. Oliveri and Gipson were able to lead the way with scores of 9.725 that tied for the event title, marking the first beam titles for both gymnasts this season. Freshman Whitney King added a 9.65 behind the upperclassmen with Todd's 9.35 and Kerra Masella's 9.175 counting towards the event total.
In the all-around, Todd posted a 38.35 to fall behind the Tribe's all-around duo of Gironda (38.675) and Olivia O'Connor (38.65).
The Owls return to action in two days where they will host their final meet of the season inside McGonigle Hall. The competition will feature ECAC foe Penn, Southern Connecticut State, and Ithaca. Set to begin at 1 p.m., Sunday's quad meet will also honor the Owls' three senior gymnasts.
