Rowing and Crew Set for 35th Annual Murphy Cup

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple rowing and crew teams will host the 35th Annual Murphy Cup Regatta on Saturday on the Schuylkill River. Crews from 40 schools will compete in 18 different events, with racing kicking off at 8:00 a.m. The morning session will include heats, and finals races will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Both Temple teams are coming off of successful season openers. The Owls' women's team swept three races against Lehigh last weekend, grabbing wins in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four races. The men's team had two events, 850 miles apart, and won every event contested.
Saturday's event marks the first time that the Owls will host the Murphy Cup out of their newly renovated boathouse. The City of Philadelphia recently dedicated the space to Temple University trustee, Gerry Lenfest.
