Women's Tennis Drops First Conference Match at Tulsa

TULSA, OK. – In the Owls' afternoon conference dual, a final score of 2-5 handed Temple women's tennis a loss from the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Monet Stuckey-Willis and Mariana Bedon were able to post singles wins in the number two and six slots.

All Owls' doubles pairings fell to Tulsa's duos. Yana Khon and Willis battled Tulsa's duo Keshia Laskutova and Mahitha Dadireddy in the first doubles flight, falling 6-1. Anais Nussaume and Bedon pairing followed up with a 6-2 loss over Rongrong Leeanbanchong and Martha Matoula.

Alina Abdurakhimova and Dina Karina closed out doubles play in the third slot defeated by the Hurricane paring of Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner.

In singles play, the Owls were able to log two wins with Stuckey-Willis topping Leeanbanchong 6-2, 7-6(5) and Bedon beating Ploner 3-6, 6-2, 10-6. .

Abdurakhimova fell to Tulsa's Laskutova in the number one spot 6-3, 6-2. She was followed up by Willis, Karina, Khon, Nussaume, and Bedon. .

The Owls now stand 1-1overall in their 2017 conference play and look forward to a dual against Delaware on Thursday March 16.
