Men's Crew Takes Three Medals at SIRA Regatta

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The Temple men's crew team won three medals, including golds from the lightweight eight and novice eight boats, capping a very successful Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship for the Owls.
Aside from Temple's golds, the Owls also got a silver from the varsity eight and a fourth place finish from the JV eight.
In the lightweight eight final, the Owls topped Purdue and UGA to stand at the top of of podium. Temple clocked in at 6:13.335, over six seconds faster than runner-up Purdue.
In novice eight racing, Temple grabbed their gold medal in 6:28.910, topping Purdue, Virginia, Florida, Clemson, and UNC.
The Owls' varsity eight clocked in at 6:09.703 for their silver medal, behind only FIT's 6:03.414. Virginia took third, followed by UNC, Georgia Tech, and Delaware.
Back at home on the Schuylkill, the Owls also grabbed a silver medal from the freshman four at the Kerr Cup. The Owls clocked in at 7:36.15 in the finals, finishing second to only Michigan.
Up next for Temple is the City Championships, next weekend on the Schuylkill River.
