American Athletic Conference Announces Men's Basketball Pairings
6.8.17 | Men's Basketball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the 2017-18 men's basketball conference pairings. With the addition of Wichita State in 2017-18, each team in The American will play seven of its 11 opponents twice, and the other four opponents once each – two at home and two away.
Wichita State will be one of the seven conference teams the Owls play both home and away during the season. Temple will face two teams, East Carolina and Memphis, only at the Liacouras Center while the Owls will have their lone meetings with USF and SMU on the road.
Entering 2017-18, nearly 60 percent of the points scored and minutes played across The American return to their respective teams. Temple is one of four squads (Cincinnati, Temple, Tulsa, and Wichita State) that returns over 70 percent of its points from last season. The Owls return a trio of double figure scorers in junior guard Shizz Alston, Jr. (13.9 ppg, 131 assists), senior forward Obi Enechionyia (13.1 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and sophomore guard Quinton Rose (10.1 ppg) from last year's 16-16 squad. Redshirt senior point guard Josh Brown is also back after sitting out last year due to an Achilles injury.
The complete 2017-18 men's basketball schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
