Track & Field Completes First Meet of 2018

Staten Island, N.Y.- On Saturday 19 student-athletes represented Temple track and field at the 12th Great Dane Classic hosted by University at Albany. Dual sport athlete freshman Aisha Brown made her high jump debut while Temple's 4x800m relay team snagged a second place finish.
Keys to the Meet
> The high jump featured Brown, who made her high jump debut with a mark of 1.60m (5' 3") to tie for eighth overall.Â
> Three Owls placed in the top 10 in the 60m dash. Sophomore Mariah Slade snagged second place overall with a 7.93. Junio Sylvia Wilson placed fourth with a time of 7.95. Freshman Grace Gillespie rounded out Temple's top three with a sixth place show (7.97).
> Out of four Temple runners that entered the 60m hurdles preliminaries, only sophomore Ebonee Jackson advanced to the finals. Her time of 9.87 earned her eighth overall.
> In the 800, junior Ashton Dunkley and freshman Lucy Jones placed eighth and ninth, respectively, to round out the event's top 10. Dunkley's time of 2:19.58 marked a personal best.
> Junior Katie Leisher was the squad's top finisher in the 3000m race. The Manchester, Md. native placed third overall out of the field of 46.
> Temple's 4x800m relay team comprised of freshman Helene Holm Gottlieb, sophomores Millie Howard and Grace Moore, and junior Katie Leisher, placed second with a time of 9:41.36 .Â
> Freshman Candus Burks' long jump mark of 5.28m (17'4") placed her at No. 15 out of 38 participants.
