PHILADELPHIA -- Visiting UConn, the top team in the nation, shot 63.8% from the field, including 61.5% from three to cruise to a 113-57 victory over the Temple women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon at a sold out McGonigle Hall. The Huskies improve to 18-0, 7-0 in conference play with the win, while the Owls' record evens at 9-9 overall, 1-5 in conference play.
KEYS TO THE GAME
> UConn used extended runs in both the first and second quarters to build a 56-32 lead at the break.
> The Huskies then put the game away by out-scoring Temple 34-11 in the third quarter.
> For the game, UConn held a 41-22 advantage on the glass, while forcing 21 Temple turnovers.
> Six UConn players finished in double digits in scoring, including 24 points from Kia Nurse and a career-high 22 from Megan Walker.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
> Freshman Mia Davis led the Owls with 19 points, while adding four rebounds.
> Senior Tanaya Atkinson tallied 15 points.
> Freshman Breanna Perry had seven points and four rebounds.
> Freshman Desiree Oliver returned to action after missing the last eight games due to injury, scoring five points with a team-high four assists.
FIRST QUARTER
> Temple started the game on a 6-0 run, with a Berger three and a three the hard way from Davis.
> UConn answered with a 14-2 run, that set the score to 14-8 with 4:59 to play.
> Atkinson nailed a jumper to close the gap to 14-10, before UConn ended the frame on a 12-6 run to lead 28-18 after one.
SECOND QUARTER
> The teams traded three point plays to open the second, Megan Walker for UConn and Davis for the Owls.
> From there, it was a 14-3 UConn run, capped by a Kia Nurse three in transition, making it 45-24 with 4:25 remaining.
> Perry scored back-to-back for the Owls, to get the lead under 20, but UConn pushed it to 26 on a surge ending in a Kyla Irwin three.
> Atkinson got four back for Temple on back-to-back possessions, before the Huskies' Williams set the halftime score to 56-32.
THIRD QUARTER
> UConn had a huge third quarter, outscoring the Owls, 34-11.
> The Huskies' surge was the most points Temple has given up in a quarter this season, setting the score to 90-43 after three.

> UConn out-scored Temple 23-14 to close out the game.
