PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's soccer head coach Seamus O'Connor welcomes a recruiting class of four newcomers to the roster for the Owls in the 2018 season.
Joining the Owls this season will be Erin Cutcliff (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), Hailey Gutowski (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson), Gabi Johnson (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) and Kylie Anicic (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway),
"We are really pleased with our 2018 signing class," said O'Connor. "We addressed our biggest need with the addition of three talented attacking players in Hailey, Gabi and Kylie, as well as an outstanding midfielder in Erin. All four are not only tremendous soccer players, but also wonderful young women from fine families. They will fit nicely with the culture of our program."
Cutcliff is a 5-9 midfielder from Springfield, Pa. She played soccer for Springfield High School where she served as team captain for two years, earning All-DELCO and All-Central League accolades along the way. Cutcliff played at the club level for FC Europa, where she was a four-year team captain who led her squad to a U.S. Soccer national title. During her reign as team captain, Cutcliff's club team earned a #1 ranking in the state, #1 in the nation and #1 globally in 2016.
Cutcliff also boasted success in the classroom where she earned the Office of the United States Congressman Scholar-Athlete Award. On top of this, she was an honor roll student, earned distinguished honors, and was a member of the National Honors Society. She also received an outstanding student award, outstanding excellence award, and the Mount Holyoke College Book Award.
After her visit to Temple, Cutcliff knew it was a great fit for her.
"Temple was the last school I visited, and it was instantly my favorite," Cutcliff said. "The team dynamic was of great quality and the atmosphere of the school itself was very comfortable to be in."
Cutcliff also comes from a family of athletes as she has three family members who have competed at the college level, including her grandfather Bob Vinso who graduated from Temple in 1968 as a track and field athlete. Her other grandfather, Dudley Cutcliff, ran track at St. Joseph's University, and her sister Taylor Cutcliff is currently playing soccer at Seton Hall University.
Hailey Gutowski is a forward from Cinnaminson, N.J.
