2015 (Senior): Only player in FBS to lead his team in tackles every game ... eclipsed the 100+ tackle plateau for the fourth season, becoming just the seventh NCAA player to accomplish that feat ... along with Kyle Friend, became the first three-time captain in program history ... against Penn State, had career-high three sacks ... collected career-high two INTs and one pass broken up and was part of senior class that defeated preseason conference favorite Cincinnati for the first time in four tries ...  collected 400th career tackle against UCF ... first sack and INT game at East Carolina ...  took over 2nd place in all-time tackles against #9 Notre Dame.

2014 (Junior): Team captain ... finshed the season with 88 solo tackles, which led the American Athletic Conference  ... sacked QB Chandler Whitmer in the end zone to record the first safety of the year at UConn ... tied a school record 16 solo tackles vs. East Carolina ... INT’d QB Christian Hackenberg and returned it 47-yards at Penn State ... led the team with 16 tackles, 13 solo and three for a loss at Tulane.

2013 (Sophomore): Led the NCAA with 8.8 solo tackles per game and, with 11.4 total stops per game trailed only San Jose State’s Keith Smith (13.3)  … had 10+ tackles in 7 of 12 games ... passed the 100 tackle plateau by week 8 ... his 137 season tackles rank 7th best all-time in Temple record books ... set school and conference record with 24 tackles at Idaho … recorded his first career INT vs. Army ... wore #8 as one of the team’s toughest players after wearing #32 as a freshman. 

2012 (Freshman): One of 14 true freshmen to see game action and one of just four true freshmen to earn a starting role … one of just three true freshmen to play in every game … started at MLB and also played on the kickoff return unit … became the first freshman in school history to record 100 tackles … finished season as Temple leader with 101 tackles, including 67 solo stops, three TFL, three break-ups, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble … finished fourth in the Big East in tackles (9.2) … had double-digit tackles in five consecutive games ... was the Owls leading tackler in each of the final 8 games … tallied 15 tackles, including 12 solo stops and two TFL, in the win over South Florida, his first collegiate start … mid-year student who enrolled at Temple in January 2012.

Prep School: Played linebacker for coach Bill Chaplick at Milford Academy for one season ... ranked #38 LB in the country by 247Sports … also ranked the #10 recruit in the state of New York and the #5 outside linebacker.

High School: Played LB and RB for coach Joe Della Vecchia at St. Joseph’s HS … 2011 All-State honoree at LB … helped the Cadets to a 10-2 record his senior season en route to back-to-back state championship titles … 2010 Connecticut Post Male Athlete of the Year … set the school record for touchdowns in a game with five against Trumball as a junior … also played baseball … 2010 first-team Connecticut Post All-Star … 2010 All-FCIAC honoree … led the team as a junior with a.372 batting average, 32 RBI, and five homeruns.

Personal:  Born Tyler John Matakevich on 12/22/92 … parents are Kim and David Matakevich … has an older sister, Ashley (23), who graduated from Sacred Heart in 2012 where she was a four-year letterwinner in track and field … she holds the school records in the long jump and in the triple jump … earned degree in adult & organizational development.
