Dec. 6, 2007
PHILADELPHIA - Temple head baseball coach Rob Valli has announced the signing of three student-athletes, Taylor Juran, Jabair Kahn and Dan Moller, to National Letters of Intent. The trio will begin their careers at Temple during the 2009 season. "We are fortunate to add these three outstanding student-athletes to our program," Valli said. "Each will fill a distinct role on our team and I expect them to contribute early in their careers." Juran (6-2, 210) is a left-handed hitting catcher from Glenshaw, PA (Shaler HS). A WPIAL All-Section selection, Juran led Shaler in RBI as a junior and is a two-year starter behind the plate. He led his summer team, the Steel-City Wildcats of the Western PA Elite Baseball League, to the league championship. His brother, Ryan, is a junior pitcher at Atlantic 10 rival Duquesne. "We expect Taylor to be an outstanding catcher in the Atlantic 10 and he projects to be our starter in 2010," Valli said. "He has very good tools, but most importantly, Taylor is a leader with tremendous work ethic." Kahn (5-11, 195) is a speedy outfielder from Exton, PA (Henderson HS). He was a Philadelphia Inquirer All-Southeastern Pennsylvania Second Team and Carpenter Cup selection. Also a highly-recruited running back, Kahn rushed for over 1,300 yards with 19 touchdowns and led Henderson to the PIAA Class AAA District 1 title game. "Jabair's potential is off the charts," Valli said. "He has the physical tools to start in our league right now. If we can help him develop into the player we think he can be, Jabair can make an impact as a freshman." Moller (6-3, 180) is a left-handed pitcher from Schnecksville, PA (Parkland HS). He was an American Legion All-Star and led his team to the Lehigh Valley Conference championship. Moller was also selected to play in the 2007 Carpenter Cup and Keystone State Games. "Dan is an athletic lefthander with a high ceiling," Valli said. "He comes from a strong high school program and has enjoyed success at every level. Dan spins an excellent curveball and can be effective early on."
Temple opens its season on February 22 at Bethune Cookman. |
