PHILADELPHIA - Temple University junior Mark Tyndale has been named Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month for the month of February. Tyndale, the Owlsports.com Athlete of the Week the first week of February, earns his first monthly citation of his career.

Tyndale averaged 23.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals over the Owls' eight February games. The 6-5 guard connected on 71-of-123 (.577) shots from the field, 11-of-22 (.500) from three-point range and 34-of-54 (.630) from the line.

The Atlantic 10 Conference's second leading scorer (19.3 ppg.) scored the most points in a single game by an A-10 player this season when he tallied a career-high 37 points in the team's win over Charlotte on Feb. 24 In that contest, he drained 14-of-17 shots from the field and all five of his three-point attempts. He also set a career high for rebounds with 16 against St. Bonaventure on Feb. 7 during the month.

Besides his career-high against Charlotte, Tyndale scored a then-career-high 33 points at George Washington (Feb. 17), hitting 12-of-16 from the field in the contest. He also made a career-high five steals in the game. He was twice named A-10 and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week during the month and became the 43rd Temple player to score 1,000 points in his career, reaching the plateau in the team's win over St. Bonaventure.

For the season, Tyndale averages 19.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He ranks 14th in the A-10 in rebounds, fourth in field goal percentage (.543) and steals. In conference game only, he leads the A-10 with a 21.5 scoring average.

Temple (12-16, 6-9) travels to Fordham (16-11, 9-6) Saturday (1:00 p.m./560 AM) for its regular season finale.
