Temple Game Captains: #82 WR Bruce Francis (offense), #66 OL Andre Douglas (offense), #98 NT Andre Neblett, #21 DB Dominique Harris (defense), and #1 DB Wilbert Brinson (special teams). Carrying flags for Temple today were #69 OL Wayne Tribue, #7 QB Chester Stewart, and #76 OL Steve Captuo. For the first time this season, Temple started five freshmen, all on offense--QB Chester Stewart, RT Steve Caputo, LG Wayne Tribue, LT Pat Boyle, RB Joe Jones. The starting nod is the second of the season for Jones and Tribue. In all five games this fall, Temple has held its opponent scoreless in the first quarter. For the third time this season, the Owls have held the opponent scoreless at halftime. For the fourth time this season, Temple has led at halftime. In his first start, redshirt freshman QB Chester Stewart went went 10-for-20 for 60 yards while rushing for 29 yards. R-senior C Alex Derenthal has started 40 consecutive games.
Senior WR Bruce Francis has made a reception in 31 consecutive games. A season-high sixteen freshmen, including 13 true freshmen, saw action in today's game. Sophomore CB Jamal Schulters' interception in the first half is the fourth of his career and second this season. Redshirt junior Jake Brownell's 45-yard field goal in the first half is a career long. His previous long was 42 yard at Akron in 2007. |
