NEW HAVEN, CT - Playing for the first time in 18 days, the Temple golf team showed no signs of rust and is tied for first place after round one in the 27-team Yale Spring Opener. Sophomore Eric Plisko led the Owls with an even-par 70, good enough for third place in the 149-player field. Temple joins Drexel and Cornell with a first-round score of 294 (+14).

Plisko carded a pair of 35s to finish with a 70 on Saturday. He is two shots back of Binghamton's Zachary Vinal, who fired a two-under 68. Junior Paul Amess is just a stroke back of Plisko after shooting a 34-37=71 (+1) and stands in fifth place.

Freshman Andrew Mason is tied for 61st with a 35-41=76 (+6) and classmate Joseph Kim, making his first collegiate appearance, is tied for 75th with a 38-39=77 (+7). Redshirt freshman Sasha Bozic rounded out the Temple scorecard with a 37-40=77 (+7) to join Kim in 75th place.

Play resumes on Sunday at 8:30 AM.
