Philadelphia - Temple University's Paul Amess claimed another title as he was named to the the area's Academic Player of the Year by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association. The Stevenage, England native and senior finance major led the Owls with a stroke average of 73.9 and finished 14th in the Atlantic Ten Conference golf championships. His victory in the Bermuda Match Play Championship earned him an exemption to the final round of qualifying for the British Open. Amess was named the Atlantic 10's golfer of the week for the week of April 14 after he turned in a one under performance at the Princeton Invitational, which was good enough for third. After being named to the 2007 Inquirer Academic All-Area Team, Amess has been named Temple's Male Student-Athlete of the Year and spots on the A-10 Men's Golf Academic All-Conference Team, First Team Academic All-District and Second Team Academic All-American.
