Havre De Grace, Md. (October 22) -- The Temple University golf team had its best finish of the 2000 fall season as it tied for second place at the University of Delaware Invitational held at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre De Grace, Md. The tournament was originally scheduled for 36 holes but was shortened to 27 holes after darkness caused the first round to be halted with members of 10 teams still on the course. Temple senior Chris Bartolacci handed in the winning score, a three-over-par total of 111. The win is the second of his career as an Owl. His last win came in the fall of 1999 at the Caves Valley Invitational when he posted a two-round 143. Fellow senior Mark Watt ended the tournament at seven-over-par and finished tied for seventh place. The Owls' top newcomer Chris Trott tied for 12th place with a nine-over-par total of 117. The University of Maryland at Baltimore County team walked away with the win after posting a 31-over-par total. The Owls tied for second with the Lehigh University Mountainhawks at 32-over-par. Rounding out the top five were Georgetown University and Towson University who tied for fourth place with a 33-over-par 465. The Owls have competed in five tournaments this fall with their previous best finish (fourth place) coming at the George Washington Invitational in Rehoboth, Del. Temple completes its fall schedule this weekend at the Georgetown Invitational in Washington, D.C. and returns to action March 5 at the South Florida Invitational in Lakeland, Florida to open the spring schedule.
