Tyler Croteau,a sophomore on the Temple men's gymnastics squad, was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastics League Rookie of the Week for his performance at the West Point Open over the weekend. Competing in his first collegiate meet, Croteau worked three events for the Owls, helping them to a second place finish behind Team Gattica, a team comprised of former Olympians and professionals. He advanced to the Vault finals where his 15.05 score earned him a 5th place medal. A native of East Swanzey, New Hampshire, Croteau received his early training under 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist Tim Dagget. He was also Junior Olympic qualifier prior to entering Temple. Croteau and the rest of the men's gymnastics squad (4-0) will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Happy Valley to take on the defending national champion Nittany Lions. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m.
