Temple University men's gymnastics head coach Fred Turoff has been named to the 2009 USA Gymnastics World Team Selection Committee. Turoff, who is entering his 34th season at the helm of the Owls' men's gymnastics program, was selected in February to be inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2009. He will be enshrined on August 14 at a Hall of Fame luncheon which is part of the USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show in Dallas. It is being held in conjunction with the 2009 Visa Championships.
Senior Jason Russo of the Temple men's gymnastics team was the named the 2008-09 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's At-Large Performer of the Year - highlighting several recent exceptional academic achievements by both the men's and women's gymnastics teams. The Temple men's gymnastics team concluded the 2009 season, as eight members of the squad competed at the NCAA National Championships from the University of Minnesota.
