PITTSBURGH, PA - Temple began its Atlantic 10 Conference play Friday night with a 2-0 shutout win at Duquesne. The win extended the Owls (5-3-2, 1-0-0) unbeaten streak to four games. Duquesne falls to 4-4-3, 0-1-0.
Senior defenseman James Suevo scored his second goal of the season and the eventual game winner for the Owls on an assist from junior J.T. Noone in the 16th minute.
Freshman forward Tyler Witmer continued his offensive rookie campaign, sending home an insurance goal, his team-leading sixth, for the Cherry and White late in the second half. Noone also assisted on that tally, his seventh of the year. It marks the sixth game this season the Owls have posted tw or more goals. The Owls are out-scoring opponents 16 to 9.
The Owls stifling defense allowed no shots in the first half, helping keeper Bret Mollon post his fourth shutout. Mollon made four saves on the game, all of which came in the second half when the Dukes offense surged, challenging the Owls keeper with 10 shots.
