Final Stats

Washington, D.C. - The Temple men's soccer team lost its first Atlantic 10 match of the season, falling on the road to a tough George Washington team Friday afternoon, 5-2. The Owls fall to 6-4-2, 2-1-0 in the A-10, while George Washington improves to 5-4-2, 1-1-1.

George Washington jumped out to an early lead as Andy Staller scored on a long pass from Matt Scheer in the second minute of action. Three minutes later, Dave Leon scored unassisted on a free kick to put the Colonials up 2-0.

Facing a 3-0 deficit, J.T. Noone attemped to mount a rally for the Owls, scoring unassisted, his fourth goal of the season, in the 20th minute.

Keeper Bret Mollon was replaced by Derek Long in the 19th minute. Long, making his first appearance for the Cherry and White this season, posted five saves while allowing two goals.

Noone struck again for the Owls on a penalty kick in the 54th minute. The junior midfielder now leads the team in points with 17.

George Washington's offense was too much for the Owls, posting more two goals in the second half to snap the Cherry and White's five-game unbeaten streak.

The Owls next play at Richmond on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
