Nov. 3, 2008

PHILADELPHIA - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced today that freshman forward Tyler Witmer was named Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 2, claiming the honor for the third time this season. Teammate J.T. Noone was named Soccer 7 Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honors with Colin Baker of Saint Joseph's.

Witmer, a Wernersville, Pa. native, tallied two goals and an assist in Temple's unbeaten weekend. Witmer notched his seventh goal of the season in Friday's 4-2 win over #22 Dayton. This the Owls first win over a ranked opponent since 2003, and first ever win over a ranked foe at Ambler Sports Complex. He followed that performance with a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-1 win over Xavier. Witmer currently leads the team in goals with eight.

Junior midfielder J.T. Noone was the driving force in the Owls 4-2 win over #22 Dayton, tallying a goal and two assists. During this contest, Noone broke the school record for assists in a single season, formerly held by Tony Donatelli (9, 2004).

The midfielder finished up his weekend with a two assists performance against Xavier, in the 4-1 win. Noone currently leads the Atlantic 10 in assists with 12, and is holding third in points with 24.

The Owls (9-4-3, 5-1-1 in A-10 play) will finish up their regular season when they play host to Fordham, Friday November 7th at 2:00 p.m., and will honor their seniors on November 9th, at 1:00 p.m., hosting LaSalle.
