PHILADELPHIA - The Atlantic 10 conference announced today that Temple Men's Soccer goal keeper Bret Mollon has been named Co-Player of the Week, for the week ending November 9th, sharing the honor with Ben Arikian of Massachusetts. Mollon was also awarded Soccer 7 Co-Player of the week, sharing that title with Colin Baker of Saint Joseph's. Mollon, a transfer from Oakland University in Michigan, posted two shutouts and seven saves this past weekend. The Owls' keeper posted five shutouts in a 1-0 win over La Salle to help the Cherry and White claim a bye in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament this weekend. Mollon's total of nine shutouts ties a school record set by assistant coach Patrick Hannigan (2004), and Jeff Kraft (1978, 1979, 1980). Originally from Washington, MI, Mollon has started all 18 games for the Cherry and White this season, posting 56 saves and ranking second in the A-10 with a .82 GAA average. The redshirt sophomore keeper has been one of the key factors in the Owls second place finish in the Atlantic 10, and their 10-4-4, 6-1-2 record. The Owls will play the highest seed remaining after Thursday's quarterfinal round on Friday night at 8:30 p.m., in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
