AMHERST, MA - Senior Andrew Fries and sophomore Brad McFadden finished second in their events to lead Temple to a sixth place showing at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track Championship at the University of Massachusetts on Sunday. Fries recorded a distance of 191-6, while McFadden ran a IC4A qualifying-time of 53.53 and was edged by just 0.03 in the event.

Freshman Colin Madison was fourth in the shot put (48-11 1/2) while sophomore Eric Pellini added a seventh place showing in the javelin (176-11).

Freshman Miles Dryden was ninth in the 200m (22.81), while junior Darnell Bowser was seventh in the 400m hurdles (56.23). Freshman Ryan Berger finished eighth in the decathlon (4874).

The Owls were third in the 4x100 with an IC4A qualifying time of 41.78, while the 4x400 relay was sixth in 3:20.16.

Rhode Island senior Ryan McCarthy defended his titles in the shot put (52-3.25) and javelin (209-0), while teammate Yudehwheh Gbaa claimed gold in the triple jump (48-1.75) for the second straight year as URI captured the men's crown for the second consecutive season. McCarthy, who also finished second in the discus on Saturday, became the first-ever three-time recipient of the Championship's Most Outstanding Field Performer Award.

La Salle finished in third place with 136 points, followed by Massachusetts (62), Duquesne (56), Temple (49), Fordham (37), Saint Joseph's (31), Richmond (28), Saint Louis (15) and Xavier (11).
 

 

Temple returns to the track in two weeks at the IC4A Championship.
