PHILADELPHIA- The Temple men's track and field team opened its indoor season at the first annual Jack Pyrah Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Haverford College. The Owls were scheduled to compete in the Bison Invitational at Bucknell on Saturday, but that meet was postponed due to inclement weather.

First place finishers in the invitational included junior Jon Albright (55 meter hurdles), sophomore Vincent Rogers (high jump), sophomore David Jackson (55 meter dash) and freshman Corey Simmons (triple jump).

Simmons, in his first collegiate meet won the triple jump with a leap of 13.64 meters and placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.24.

Albright, who was named the Performer of the Week by the Owls' coaching staff, won the 55 meters hurdles with a personal best time of 7.71. The time of 7.71 qualifies Albright for the IC4A Championships.

Rogers won the high jump with a height of 1.85 and fellow Owl Dewayne Shaw placed second with a leap of 1.80.

Jackson had the fastest collegiate time in the 55 meters crossing the tape in a time of 6.59. Teammate Steve Johnson had the second fastest collegiate time at 6.61.
