PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's crew team kicked off its season on a chilly morning on Saturday, October 14, 2006 with a solid showing at the annual Philadelphia Navy Day Regatta. This event offered the Owls a chance to compete against local competition as well as teams located primarily on the East Coast.

The women's JV eight squad of Jill Ploof (coxswain), Laura Austin (stroke), Katie Hoban (7-seat), Sara Nguyen (6), Jackie Swan (5), Carolyn Bailey (4), Jessica Herrmann (3), Danielle Britton (2), and Laura Scullin (bow) finished 9th with a time of 18:04.00. The Dad Vail eight finished a close second behind local rival Villanova with a time of 15:59.30. The Dad Vail eight consists of Jill Ploof (coxswain), Steph Hanlin (stroke), Laura Altimari (7), Anne Marie Mikolajewski (6), Rachel Jordan (5), Amanda Barr (4), Leah Silverstein (3), Lauren Fattori (2), and Colleen Sullivan (bow).

The Temple women will next take to the water on Saturday, October 21 to compete in The Schuylkill Banks Regatta.
