Philadelphia, Pa.-- Temple Fencing split 1-1 this past weekend at Fairleigh-Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J. The Owls outscored FDU 21-6 for the first competition, but were beat by Rutgers 13-14. The foil and epee squad defeated the devils 9-0 while the sabre squad struggled and were outscored 3-6. After Rutgers beat FDU 18-9, Temple took on the Knights but were unsuccessful. The epee squad dominated the match 7-2, while the foil squad squeezed out a win 5-4. The sabre squad was outscored 1-8 rounding out a close final score of 13-14. Temple will travel to compete in the Vassar Invitational on Saturday, February 5 against Hollins, Stevens and Vassar.
