Temple University honored its best in athletics, both on and off the field, at its sixth annual Breakfast of Champions Wednesday morning. In all, over 200 Temple student-athletes were recognized for academic and athletic accomplishments with junior Paul Amess being named the top male Student-Athlete of the Year and sophomore fencer Kristin Howell earning the top female Student-Athlete of the Year award.

Two Fencers Named All-American at NCAA Championships
 
Sophomore Melissa Parker became the first Temple fencer to be named second team All-American since Lisa Hoing in 1994, capping off a fantastic final day for the Temple women's fencing team at the NCAA Fencing Championships in Indianapolis. Parker finished 7th in the foil and was named second team All-American. Sophomore Kristin Howell placed 9th and was named an honorable mention All-American. She is the first Epee All-American in the history of Temple fencing.

Fencing in 7th Place After First Day of NCAA Championships
 
The #8 Temple University fencing team opened the 2008 NCAA Championships with an impressive opening day. As a team, the Cherry and White finished in 7th place following the first day of competition. In the individual events, sophomore Kristin Howell continued upon her excellent season, as she currently sits in 6th place of the epee.

Four Owls Tabbed for NCAA Championships
 
Sophomore epeeist Kristin Howell, sophomore saberist Christie Griffith, sophomore foilist Melissa Parker and freshman epeeist Grace Wu have been tabbed regional selections for the NCAA Championships to be held in Columbus, Ohio from March 13 - 16.The selection marks the second time that both Parker and Griffith have been tabbed for the NCAA Championships, as both were selected to the 2007 Championships. Howell and Wu will both be competing in the Championships for the first time.
