TERRAPINS DROP OWLS IN DUAL MEET
 

 
 
 

 

 
 

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Temple women's gymnastics team suffered a 197.150-186.125 loss at the University of Maryland in a dual meet at the Comcast Center Sunday afternoon.  The host, the Terrapins, outscored the Cherry & White in each event. Freshman Natasha Crawford  recorded a team and meet high score on the bars (9.650) and placed fourth on the apparatus. Junior Sarah Liebowitz placed sixth turning in a 9.600 performance. Temple finished the event with a 45.800. 

 

The vault proved to be the Owls' best event. They finished the vault competition with an impressive 48.000.  Sophomore Brittany Matthews and junior Jillian Kornett tied for fourth on the apparatus, with a 9.625, sharing fourth place with Terrapin Angela Ferg. Maryland's Rachel Martinez and Racel Colon took the first and second slots on the event, turning in 9.850 and 9.825 performances. Martinez and Colon split first place honors in the meet with Martinez also earning an individual crown in the Floor Exercise. Colon fnished first on the beam with a 9.850 performance and tied teammate Mandy Pascual for first on the bars with a 9.750.

 

Liebowitz turned in the Owls' best performance on beam, placing sixth with a 9.475. The team finished the event with a score of 45.375.  On the floor, Temple earned a 46.950. Junior Noelle Moore logged the team's highest score with a 9.600. Senior co-captain Lindsay Stern and Kornett also broke into the top 10, placing 8th and 9th respectively.

 

The Owls returns to action March 4 when they take on Rhode Island.
