MORGANTOWN, WV -- Temple women's gymnastics finished its regular season competition in a tri-meet in Morgantown, West Virginia falling to both the Mountaineers and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Temple finished the meet with a 186.175. Rutgers placed second scoring a 190.225 while the host, West Virginia took first place honors with a 194.625. The Cherry and White made the top 10 in three events. The Owls final record is 5-19.
Temple sophomore Desireé Meredith logged the high mark for the Owls on the vault, turning in a 9.600. She placed seventh in the event. Three Mountaineers, Erica Watson, Janae Cox and Jaime Gold tied for first with a 9.800. Temple's Jillian Kornett finished ninth with a 9.550 and Brittany Matthews placed tenth, scoring a 9.475. Temple finished the event with a 47.050.
On the Bars, freshman Natasha Crawford finished eighth with a 9.550 performance. Dierdre Mattocks ranked ninth, scoring a 9.525. West Virginia took the top four positions on the apparatus. Mountaineer Meghan Morris placed first, scoring a 9.925. The bars proved to be the Owls' best event. The team logged a 47.075.
Freshman Winter Sneed had the teams overall best ranking, placing sixth on the beam with a 9.500. Crawford placed ninth, turning in a 9.350. West Virginia's Amie Bouchier took first with a 9.825 performance.
The Owls were unable to break into the top 10 on the floor. Senior co-captain Lindsay Stern placed 12th, with a 9.575.
The Owls will compete in the ECAC's in the post season.
