SEATTLE, WA - Seniors Sarah Liebowitz, Noelle Moore and sophomore Christine McNeill competed in Saturday night's individual event finals at the USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate Championships held at Seattle Pacific. Each competitor was awarded All-American recognition for their performances in Thursday's team qualifier.
After scoring identical scores of 9.700 in Thursday's opening session, Liebowitz and McNeill each qualified for Saturday's uneven bar finals. Liebowitz's tally of 9.750 ranked the senior in a tie for second while McNeill posted a 9.675 and a sixth place result.
Moore's flawless 9.800 on Thursday was good enough for the senior to see action in the floor exercise finals on Saturday. The Cortland Manor, N.Y. native placed seventh with a 9.650.
Towson's Christina Ghani placed first in the all-around (39.125) and floor exercise (9.925) while fellow teammate Alise McDonald won the vault (9.900) crown. Texas Woman's Courtney Arno captured the uneven bars (9.900) title while Seattle Pacific's Sarah Sullivan finished first on the balance beam (9.800)
In Friday's team finals, Towson (195.625) captured the crown while Seattle Pacific (193.150) placed second, and Centenary (La.) (191.675) finished third.
The USAG Women's Collegiate Championships marks the conclusion of the 2007 season for the Owls and first-year head coach Aaron Murphy. The Cherry and White finished the season with a 14-17 record, including a fifth place finish in the ECAC Championships.
